What should I do if I see or hear something suspicious in my neighborhood?

What do you consider suspicious activity?

Suspicious activity can be described in several different ways. Simply put, something can be suspicious if you think it appears unusual in your community. Here are some examples:

An elderly neighbor has not been seen in several days and newspapers have begun to stack up on his/her front doorstep.

The neighbors told you that they would be on vacation for the next week, and during that week, you see some people, who you have never seen before, moving items out of their house.

Over a long period of time, a neighborhood resident has several vehicles stop at his/her house and the visitors are only at the house for a few minutes.

Even if you doubt whether something is suspicious or not, don’t hesitate to call us. While your hunch may be wrong, most people appreciate the fact that their neighbors are concerned for their safety.

I have heard that the state law has changed regarding vehicles in the roadway that have just been involved in a vehicle crash. What should I do if I am involved in a vehicle crash?

Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) states that vehicles that have been involved in a vehicle crash should be moved to the side of the road if the vehicles can be moved safely and no one has been injured in the crash. Always remember that when you’re involved in a crash, standing in the roadway can be very dangerous. If no one is injured but the cars cannot be moved safely, try to get out of the flow of traffic as much as possible for your own personal safety. If someone is injured in the crash, do not attempt to move him or her until emergency medical workers arrive.
